Probably not. If you are considering purchasing these opera glasses to correct a vision condition such as macular degeneration, you will find that these opera glasses probably will not help. How does the light work?
Many of our models come with a small LED reading light attached to the opera glasses. The light is located in front of the center focus wheel on all models. You will be able to identify the flashlight part of the opera glasses as it is designed in a cone shape with the red LED light at the tip. On the cone part there is a small rounded button that you can press to use the light. The light is designed to turn off as soon as you take your finger off of the button.
How does the lorgnette/handle work?
When you receive your opera glasses, if it is equipped with a handle you will find that the handle is folded onto of the opera glasses. In order to use the handle, grip it firmly, and rotate the handle until it is in the appropriate position. If the handle will not easily move, you can loosen the handle by locating the small wing nut that connects the handle to the opera glasses and by rotating it counter clockwise. Once the handle is in the correct position, you can rotate the wingnut clockwise again if needed to tighten the handle in place.
The handles on all of our opera glasses are also telescopic handles. In order to use this function, hold the handle with one hand and hold the small ring, or sleeve, located just above the handle, with the other hand. Turn the handle portion counter clockwise in the same fashion you would turn a screwdrivier to loosen the handle, once somewhat loose, pull the handle straight down towards the floor and you will see that you get an extra few inches of length. Once you have it at the desired lengh, rotate the handle clockwise to tighten it into place.
Do your opera glasses focus?
Yes, all of our opera glasses feature a center focus wheel. This is located in between the two viewing tubes of the glasses. You can turn it left or right to achieve the correct focus.
How does the chain necklace on your opera glasses work?
Many of our models come with a chain necklace to prevent you from dropping or losing your opera glasses as well as make them convenient and stylish to wear. Each chain is nearly 4 feet long which allows the opera glasses to be easy to take off and put on. when wearing, the opera glasses will usually hang to mid-abdomen, depending on height. Each chain features two small clips where they connect to specially designed brackets on our opera glasses. The enables the user to remove the chain if desired.
Do you have any opera glasses with a chain and a handle?
Unfortunately, no. We have not found any opera glasses on the market that have managed to seamlessly integrate a handle and a chain. When testing this feature on our own test models, users found the glasses heavy, clunky and hard to use as the chain seemed to regularly get tangled in the handle. If you know of a design that achieves this feat seamlessly, please let us know!
