How to Focus Your Compact Sport Binoculars

Sport binoculars have a dual focus system.  This systems accounts for each individual's vision differences.  Due to astimagtism and other issues, most people have different vision for each eye. Each binocular has 1) a focus diopter ring near the right eyepiece and 2) a focus wheel located on the center hinge. It really doesn't matter which you adjust first, but once you set your vision preference you are set.

1) To focus the right eye, simply cover the left lens or close your left eye.  Adjust the diopter until you see a crisp image through the right eyepiece. Note the setting marks on the underside of the diopter.

2) After the right eye is focused, adust the central focusing mechanism.  Look through the binoculars with both eyes and turn the focus wheel until both sides are working together to give the optimal image.

Focusing is actually a quite simple process.  Once you have your personal setting, you do not need to re-adjust.  If you lend your binoculars to someone else, and they re-set it for themself, simply re-set it back using the setting markings located on the right diopter.
